Sydney Rose Counseling moves to the MN Clinic for Health & Wellness

In 2019 a young, eager graduate student carefully crafted a DEAR MAN for the DBT supervisor who empowered her to take her DBT skills to the next level and offer skills training to individuals who learned better working one-on-one with a provider than in a large group. She felt ready to go further and start her own practice, seeing full-model cases and running her own skills groups. The supervisor chuckled at the overly thorough DEAR MAN and agreed to support her in her endeavor to start a practice.

Fast forward to 2021, and Sydney Rose Counseling was thriving - not only did Sydney and her trustee co-leader Sam get a group off the ground, but it was able to run through multiple cycles! They also piloted a DBT skills group for coping with cancer which likely was as empowering to Sydney & Sam as it was to group members. Concurrently, Sydney had a full practice where she was able to walk with some incredible human beings through challenging times and learn alongside her clients.

In 2022, it was time for Sydney Rose Counseling to temporarily close so that Sydney could finish up her doctoral training at the Bay Pines VA Medical Center. Here, she stepped out of her comfort zone and added a wealth of knowledge and experience with a variety of assessments to her repertoire, all while weaving in DBT wherever she was able. She gained experience working with Veterans with cognitive concerns stemming from chronic medical conditions, traumatic brain injury, progressive neurological disease (dementia), and severe mental health disorders. Not only did she learn a new treatment - cognitive rehabilitation therapy - her passion for merging mental and physical health was fueled.

And just like that, we are nearing the end of 2023 and it is time for Sydney to return to her practice, this time in conjunction with an integrative health clinic based out of Sydney's home state, MN. Thus, Sydney Rose Counseling is back and is housed at the MN Clinic for Health & Wellness. What does this mean? Most significantly, this means that Sydney now takes insurance! This is consistent with Sydney's values and she will now be better able to serve more clients. It also means that she now is seeing clients located in the state of MN. If you are a returning client from another state, stay-tuned! Sydney is working on licensure & joining PSYPACT, which would allow her to see clients in 36 (and counting!) states within the US. You can check out Sydney's updated website and the MN Clinic for Health & Wellness for more information.

Up next? Sydney plans to stay put for a while, focus on her growing family, obtain licensure, and rebuild her practice. Stay tuned for exciting new group offerings & let Sydney know what you'd like to see next!

Thank you for following along on or being part of this journey & please don't hesitate to reach out!
