When life gets hard and our emotions ratchet up, our bodies hold onto the pain and distress in different ways. Self-soothe is a way to soothe our bodies when we are in or recovering from crisis mode. Note: This is not self-care (what we do to proactively take care of ourselves), it is a self-compassionate response to the situations we are in.
