Distress Tolerance: DISTRACT

Distract is a skill that is true to it's name – your goal is to distract away from distress/crises 110%. These are activities that will pull you – body, mind, & soul – away from whatever situation, emotion, thoughts, etc that are intolerable or kicking up ineffective urges. Distract is a beautiful place to practice the mindfulness skill of participate and works best when you throw yourself in completely. The dialectic here is that even distracting for 15-seconds is a win and you will build your ability to distract in the face of crisis over time.
